Foundations in Facilitating Dialogue
Feb 16, 2024 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM ESTA half-day training for faculty and staff who want to make dialogue a key component of their course or programming.

Overview
This virtual professional development session equips participants with the skills to facilitate meaningful conversations about contentious issues. Participants will learn out-of-the box strategies to proactively create a culture of trust, techniques to support the development of students’ mindsets and skills for engaging across differences, and specific tactics to intervene in tense moments of conflict.
The workshop is highly interactive and experiential. Faculty, staff, and student leaders will learn new techniques and then will apply them through case studies and examples with their peers.
(*Note: This training is a refreshed version of our offering previously entitled Fostering Dialogue Skills in Students.)
Objectives
Receive an introduction to CDI's PSI (Prepare-Support-Intervene) approach
Gain strategies to create a culture of trust for dialogue
Examine different ways to support student use of dialogue
Learn how to and best practices for intervening in moments of conflict

Eliza O’Neil, Ed.M., CDI Senior Curriculum Developer
Eliza is an educator, dialogue facilitator, and curriculum writer. Inherently, her work has centered around bringing communities who might never meet together to forge connections and learn from differences.
