A 5-Hour Training for Faculty, Staff, or Student Leaders


Overview

This training program equips participants with the skills to facilitate meaningful conversations about contentious issues. Participants will learn out-of-the box strategies to proactively create a culture of trust, techniques to support the development of mindsets and skills for engaging across differences, and specific tactics to navigate conflict in tense moments of controversy or misunderstanding. The workshop is highly interactive and experiential. 

Available as a Faculty and Staff session, focused on classroom and co-curricular contexts, or a Student Leader session, focused on peer leadership contexts.

Objectives

  • Learn and practice strategies designed to build a culture of trust amongst students or peers

  • Be prepared to facilitate activities and exercises with students or peers that build and strengthen their listening, question-asking, and storytelling skills

  • Learn key practices for navigating conflict or discord in order to sustain the conversation and promote connection and understanding

  • Moral Foundations Theory

  • The Perception Gap

  • Fight/Flight/Freeze/Fawn framework

  • Four key conflict navigation tools: ask questions, name values and feelings, shift gears, and confront the conflict

  • Dialogue limitations and where to draw the line

  • Rebuilding trust after conflict strikes

Delivery Format

The Faculty and Staff version is available as a public session or a private cohort. The Student Leader version is available only as a private cohort.

Public Session:

  • This is a 5-hour workshop that includes a 40-minute lunch and two 10-minute breaks.
  • This training is $250 per participant.

Private Cohort:

To discuss a private cohort of Foundations for Faculty and Staff (virtual or in-person) or a private in-person cohort for Student Leaders, please contact growth@constructivedialogue.org.

Per our Training and Workshop Cancellation and No-Show Policy, if you are unable to attend a training or workshop, you must cancel your registration at least 1 week prior to the scheduled date of the training or workshop. Any seats reserved and not utilized or canceled with sufficient notice will be forfeited and will be ineligible for a refund or transfer.
