FAQ

Peer-to-Peer completion uses the honor system. Instructors might choose to mitigate the possibility of students cutting corners and skipping P2Ps by requiring written reflections post-P2P conversation or garnering buy-in at the start of Perspectives by sharing their perspective on the value of P2Ps, and why they might be useful in students' lives.

We suggest keeping the same groups for all Peer-to-Peer conversations. This allows groups to get to know one another on a deeper level as the P2Ps progress and benefit from those connections when they are navigating more controversial topics in the final P2P.

Yes. While it is ideal to keep the same P2P groups, if students drop off it is best to reorganize so the remaining students have the benefit of a full group to be in dialogue with.

Instructors can create more opportunities for students to practice the mindsets and skills they have developed in Perspectives. The more that students have the opportunity to use what they learn in Perspectives, the more the mindsets and skills will stick. We offer a half-day training for instructors that introduces routines and practices designed to reinforce Perspectives: Fostering Dialogue Skills in Students.

Yes!

Individual instructors cannot access questionnaire results, but these analytics are included when using Perspectives at the institutional level. We take student privacy very seriously, so our approach to questionnaires is in line with data security and proper research reporting. However, instructors can see when students have completed their questionnaire.

Whenever possible, P2P groups should be representative of difference. As much as you're able to discern difference of opinion, identity, or perspective, a P2P conversation will be richer with those differences.

Instructors should feel free to require students to focus their P2P responses on course content. However, P2Ps are designed for students to practice dialogue skills and share on a personal level. Requiring specific topics may distract from the opportunity to practice the outlined skills and may limit students’ opportunities to share personally.

While there are many US-centric references throughout Perspectives, the program does its best to explain the references in a way that makes sense to the material that students are learning. Wherever possible, international students should feel invited to tailor their responses to their home contexts.
